About the Soledad O'Brien Award

CNN anchor and special correspondent Soledad O'Brien was the first recipient of the Soledad O'Brien Freedom's Voice Award, an award created in her honor by Community Voices of Morehouse School of Medicine to recognize outstanding catalysts for social change.

"The Soledad O'Brien Freedom's Voice Award reflects the courage, integrity, and excellence of the woman whose work has inspired it," said Dr. John E. Maupin, President of the Morehouse School of Medicine. "Ms. O'Brien's accomplishments in her field, her commitment to cover stories that might otherwise go untold, and her steadfast willingness to be a voice for those in our society who are unseen and unheard set a high standard."
