The symposium is being hosted by Community Voices: Healthcare for the Underserved, State of the Art, Inc. and the University of Michigan Comprehensive Depression Center. The goal of the symposium is to advance dialogue between multicultural interdisciplinary professionals on issues related to health disparities around male depression, and to encourage others to become engaged in this critical effort. The symposium will include three major content area tracks: (1) Cultural Competence and Quality of Care, (2) Promising Prevention and Intervention Approaches, and (3) Health and Mental Healthcare Policy. The National Symposium on Health Disparities in Male Depression will serve as the launch event for the Men Get Depression Education and Outreach Campaign which includes a one hour television special, a community outreach DVD and booklet, and planned national and community outreach to provide resources and support on depression to men, families and communities across the nation.
